Based on the positive feedback received by the Ministry of External Affairs for its pilot launch of mPassport Seva, the ministry has now launched the app for iOS and Windows too.
It was launched for Android users on March 21, 2013. It offers a wide variety of services to smartphone users such as Passport Application status tracking, locating the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) and general information on various steps involved in obtaining a Passport.
This app was launched in a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode with Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) as a service partner.
Passport Seva Project was adjudged as the most significant e-Governance initiative of the Government of India undertaken during 2011-12 by Computer Society of India (CSI).
