Preppy US clothing retailer, J Crew, is looking to open at least three more London stores to accompany its Regent Street flagship, which opened on Friday.
J Crew first arrived in London a month ago with a small menswear outlet in Bloomsbury, central London. Later this month, the fashion retailer will open a womenswear boutique in Brompton Cross, west London, and it’s thought that the firm is looking for two or three more locations in the capital.
Millard Drexler, the company’s chairman and chief executive, said: “London was an easy decision. It is a place where people understand and respect the integrity of great style and design”.
Meanwhile, fellow lifestyle fashion brand Abercrombie & Fitch is scaling back its UK operation amid poor sales. A&F announced that underlying sales at stores outside the US are down 5 per cent, leading the retailer to close its Gilly Hicks lingerie stores.
