Price comparison engine, PriceBaba.com has launched ‘local prices’ feature on its platform allowing shoppers to now compare local prices of mobile handsets in the city of Mumbai. The company stated that the local brings data from local retailers to the web, thus bridging the gap between online and offline.

Currently, the platform claims to  list over 1000 mobile phone models from over 20 manufacturers and gives consumers an option to find local shops to buy them across six cities.

Annkur P Agarwal, Cofounder,PriceBaba.com commented, "We have been working on PriceBaba Local since over a year and are happy to rollout its availability for buying mobile phones In Mumbai. Our users can now get accurate pricing and stock status from local shops. This kind of research has been previously impossible In India."



PriceBaba.com has also announces its availability in Bangalore with over 200 stores. Now, the company offers coverage in six cities including Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai.

"Each store on our network has been visited personally and has undergone at least two levels of verification. We rejected hundreds of stores across India to ensure that only the most reliable options are exposed to our users" said Annkur.

PriceBaba covers over 700 retailers across India and plans to be live in 10 cities by end of the year. With a team of 11, PriceBaba has rolled out a research engine with local retailers, product data, comparison, email and SMS alerts and HD photos/ videos.

Founded by Annkur P Agarwal and Tirthesh Ganatra in 2012, PriceBaba.com has raised undisclosed amount of seed investment from a group of five investors in January this year. Led by Pune based angel investor and entrepreneur Karamveer Singh, other investors include Dinesh Tejwani of Fast Fact Computer Systems (acquired by Thomson Reuters), Aditya Mishra (Founder and CEO, SwitchMe.in), Ashutosh Rathi (Basil Partners) and Ranjeet Walunj (Technology Chief, TSS Service Solutions).

In May this year, it has raised investment from 500 Startups, Karamveer Singh and Dinesh Tejwani. The company aims to reach 10 cities across India by the end of 2013.
