The British Fashion Council and the Mayor of London has announced the launch of the September Fashion Showcase on London's Oxford Street as the fashion industry looks forward to one of the most important events in its calendar.
In an effort to build excitement for London Fashion Week on 13th September, 75 flags emblazoned with key autumn/ winter catwalk shots from Matthew Williamson, Alice Temperley and House of Holland, amongst others, will line the 12 mile stretch from the M40 to Oxford Street.
Jace Tyrrell, Campaign Director at New West End Company, organisers behind this major fashion campaign, says: “This partnership is a major moment for Oxford Street and will give this iconic street the opportunity to really showcase to the world its fashion credibility. September is a major period of sales outside of Christmas, so what better time to put on the biggest fashion extravaganza the street has ever seen."
Fifteen fashion retailers along Oxford Street will also host special in-store events as part of the showcase. Topshop will be offering personal styling sessions; Ben de Lisi will be talking customers through his Principles range at Debenhams on 12th September; drinks and canapes will be available at the launch of River Island's collaboration with Eudon Choi on 17th September and shoppers can claim complimentary manicures at Wallis on the 16th.
