Wickes has opened its first high street convenience store in Tunbridge Wells.
The 700 sq ft store is the first of its kind for the DIY retailer, which until now has stuck to large sheds in retail parks and out-of-town locations.
Wickes hopes the new smaller format store will tap into its growing multichannel offer. The home and DIY retailer will offer customers the opportunity to order items in store to have them the next day if they are not imediately available.
Multi channel development director Simon Holder said: “This will be well positioned for people who want to pick up things in their lunch hour or on their way home from work.”
Wickes is said to be considering further locations for the smaller format.
