Selfridges to launch 15,000 book pop-up library
Selfridges is to launch a 15,000 book pop-up library in its Oxford Street store as part of the Words Words Words event.
The library will be open for the next seven weeks, the duration of the Words Words Words event which aims to celebrate the printed word.
Penguin, Taschen, Faber and Thames And Hudson worked with the store to curate the section, located in its basement level Ultralounge area.
Visitors will be unable to take the books away but they can use the 3,500 square foot space as a reading room and bookstore. Customers may also listen to audio books at selected listening points as well as read works on iPads.
The Words Words Words event, which opens on Friday, will also include story-telling, grammar lessons and lectures, as well as short courses in Latin and Greek philosophy.
