Debenhams set to open three-storey flagship store in Moscow
UK department store group Debenhams is set to open a three-storey flagship store in Moscow’s new Aviapark development, which, once completed, will be Russia’s largest shopping centre.
Located in the north-west part of Moscow’s city centre, Debenham’s new flagship will be the British retailer’s largest store in Russia, taking up 8,400 sq m of the centre’s 225,000 sq m of retail space.
The new flagship will feature clothes from its in-house labels and capsule collections from guest British designers.
Nick Hill, managing director of Debruss, said: “We consider only outstanding sites for opening our flagship stores. Debenhams department stores are already present in such remarkable shopping centers as Westfield Shopping Centre in London, Cevahir in Istanbul, Dubai Mall and others.
“We believe that Avia Park is destined to become the shopping destination in Moscow, the hub for all the big international brands. We are very excited about the opening of our first flagship in Russia in Avia Park shopping centre.”
Anders Binnmyr, president of AMMA Development, said: “We are pleased to welcome Debenhams, one of the largest global retailers in the Avia Park shopping centre. “
Debenhams will join fellow anchor tenants hypermarket operator Auchan, home furniture store Hoff, electronics store Media Markt, and DIY store OBI at the new Aviapark, which is scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2014 after a 24 month construction period.
