MAC Cosmetics is set to launch their new flagship store on Champs-Elysées, Paris on Friday, according to WWD.com. This store will be MAC’s third-largest store, the two New York sites being the only two to surpass it. The 4,022-square-foot property is situated in the busy Champs-Elysées that attracts more than 170 million people annually.
MAC has already opened 70 new stores in the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, reflecting the company’s aim to ramp up their global market targeting. The Paris store is set to be the first in line of several stores estimated to open by the end of the fiscal year 14 June 2014. Five other flagship locations are already thought to be in the pipe-line, including Beijing, Shanghai, London, Rome.
Speaking in light of the opening Fabrizio Freda, chief executive officer of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., told WWD.com: “This will be a truly global store. My ambition is that this [location] will represent the concept of ‘global’ the way the Estée Lauder company sees it, which means just the opposite of standardization.”
While the MAC company has doubled its digits the last five years due to its successful expansion, the overall market is still struggling. Despite tough trading, MAC sales rose with 20 per cent from last year, having also opened a brand new store in Lagos, Nigeria, at the start of February.
