All eyes north this week as Land Securities opens Trinity Leeds, the first major shopping centre to launch in the UK since 2011.
Delayed for three years as the nation continues to struggle out of recession, it’s hoped the new £350 million centre will bring a new lease of life to a northern city keen to reinvent itself. Already 90 per cent pre-let back in January, Trinity Leeds is the only 1 million sq ft UK retail scheme to open in the next four to five years, and is set to house around 100 retailers in Leed’s city centre, employing up to 3,000 people.
Marks & Spencer, Next, Armani Exchange, Topshop and Bose will join the UK’s largest Superdry store and the first Victoria’s Secret to open outside of London at the opening ceremony on Thursday 21 March, which will be curated by fashion designer Henry Holland.
Speaking in the run-up to the opening Holland said; “Curating the launch ceremony for Trinity Leeds has given me the opportunity to celebrate fashion in a unique and memorable way. I was challenged to deliver a spectacular show that will excite Leeds’ shoppers and propel Trinity Leeds into the fashion spotlight. It has been an immensely rewarding project to work on and I can’t wait to hear the reaction from the public and see it all come to life on opening day”.
David Laycock, Trinity Leeds Centre director said; “With such a wide range of fashion brands under one roof, we wanted to work with a renowned designer to celebrate the best of British fashion and showcase to the rest of the UK what Leeds has to offer.
“We’re incredibly excited about revealing Henry’s event on launch day and hope it captures the imagination of the British public, from those local to Leeds, to shoppers up and down the country.”
