John Lewis has been named the UK’s Best Retailer at the Verdict Customer Satisfaction Awards, beating off competition from Bonmarché and Dunelm Mill who took second and third place respectively.
Amazon came in fourth while footwear retailer Brantano came took fifth place.
John Lewis achieved scores for service which trumped those of every other retailer, as well as scoring respectably on product quality. All retailers were assessed via a survey of 5,900 consumers by Verdict Research.
Verdict director of research and analysis Maureen Hinton said: “John Lewis swept the board this year coming top in all its main product categories, including for the first time, clothing. Apart from its service credentials its product ranges are delivering the inspiration and trust that customers appreciate.”
John Lewis’ retail director, Andrew Murphy, who collected the awards, commented: “It's fantastic to have our customers acknowledge the outstanding products and service that John Lewis provides so consistently.”
“It's especially exciting to be recognised in clothing and electricals where we've really built our reputation.”
