Cath Kidston to open flagship in London
Marking the brand's 20th anniversary, the British fashion and homeware retailer, Cath Kidston reported that it will launch its biggest store in London later this year.
The 3 floor, 657 square meters (7,070 square feet) flagship store is located next to Fortnum & Mason at the old French Railway building. The new store will provide the brand's selection of items including, for the flagship, a mezzanine space for its exclusively designed goods. The store will also be providing a theatre space for host events, talks and workshops and a basement housing Cath's Café (to open in early 2014).
Chief executive, Kenny Wilson said “The launch of our London flagship is an exciting step in our strategy for growth in the UK and internationally.” adding that London is the right place for its new store because it is where the brand originates from as well as the city being the key point for UK and international customers. With Londoners and tourists and the brand's reputation as an international retailer, it expects to appeal to customers with its 'home of modern vintage' concept.
The flagship will be its 60th store in UK and the brand has 63 international concessions across 7 countries; Spain, Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China.
Cath Kidston reported its sales totalled to £89 million, year ended April 2012 (a 30 per cent increase on previous year) and global network sales increased by 37 per cent to £104 million in the same period.
