Chanel will open its largest store worldwide in London
Chanel will open its largest store worldwide in London tomorrow. The French luxury maison's 3 floor flagship store will be located at 158-159 New Bond Street. Spanning 12,600 square feet store will feature the Chanel's entire product range, from ready-to-wear to fine jewllery and beauty.
The flagship will be focusing on accessories with walls presenting scarves, belts and men ties. The store's layout consists of a fireplace with each division separated by their individual rooms, coffee tables with Chanel books, plush carpets and special decor. To display its fragrances, Chanel will also have a special place inserted in the store, a beauty bar which will also display make-up and skincare products.
As the flaship's centrepiece, artist Jean-Michel Othoniel a glass sculpture expert produced the Coco Chanel's iconic pearls insired sculpture with wholey hand-blown Venetian glass. Rising from the ground to the top of the 3rd floor, the centrepiece suspends from the ceiling and surrounded by the boutique's staircases which appear as if floating because of the invisible underlying support.
The store has glass and mirrored walls that encase a gold ribbon, a feature that is planned by Coco Chanel which was inspired by her collection of Coromandel screens. The curtains have hand-stitched pearls, chandeliers contain real crystals, including furnitures specifically produced for the flagship and pieces of artwork are all authorised by the project leader and architect Peter Marino.
Many noticeable figures attended the a private view of the flagship such as Thandie Newton wearing a black polka dot Chanel dress, accompanied by Laura Bailey, fashion blogger Bip Ling, Poppy Delevingne
