TinMen, a Hyderabad based technology driven version of the “Mumbai Dabbawala” has raised an undisclosed amount of funding in angel round from alumni focused angel network, Lead Angels.
offers home cooked lunches to working professionals and has simplified office lunches with a scheduler built into their App available on both Android and iPhone.
Users can create a weekly meal plan and opt to put the repeat it using the app’s scheduler. There is a button on the app by clicking on which the user can either start or pause lunches from the next day, everyday like clockwork.
Started in August 2015 by Mukesh Manda and Chaitanya Degala, TinMen delivers more than 8,000 lunches a month to professionals. It is looking to grow to 40,000 lunches per month in the next six months.
“The platform generates significant revenue for our home-chefs. Each home chef makes anywhere between 20 and 50 lunches per day based on their comfort level and this translates into earnings between Rs 30k and Rs 75k per month,” says team.
The company has built all of its technology in-house and claims more than 40% customer retention.
“TinMen is also one of the first food delivery apps to have a b2b model for companies that want to give food as a perk to their employees, a benefit that more and more companies are exploring of late. Companies decide on a fixed amount and recharge the TinMen wallets of all the employees, who then order through the app,” says Mukesh Manda, Co-founder of TinMen.
Lead Angels was started by a team of three originally from IIT Bombay. It currently has offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Hyderabad. Its focus is to assist investment into early stage ideas and companies founded by students and alumni of premier institutions.
