Intra-city logistics service provider Shippr, has raised $500,000 in seed-funding from early stage investor cum accelerator i2india Pvt Ltd. The capital will be used by the company to expand its presence in more cities. Currently, it operates in Bengaluru and Chennai only.
Founded in September 2014 by Rohit Fernandes and Phaneendra Hegde, Shippr enables customers to book vehicles by call or online. It collects, transports & delivers goods, and it consists of fleet owners, single truck owners, brokers and contractors. As per TechinAsia report, the company is also in discussions with multiple investors to raise its series A round in a few months.
i2india is a $10 million seed capital firm which provides incubation and seed stage capital to companies operating in India. It seeks to invest in the technology sector.
Shippr’s closest competitor in India is TheKarrier, which raised $235,000 from Sol Primero and Outbox Ventures in May this year. Other players like Trucksuvidha, Blowhorn, Trucksfirst, Truckmandi, Moovo, ThePorter etc. are also operating in this space.
