Mumbai-based travel tech start-up Guiddoo has raised undisclosed amount of seed funding from a group of angel investors including Pawan Borle, Senior Vice-President at flydubai, the Dubai Government-owned budget carrier and Abrar Ahmad, partner at Travel Capitalist Ventures.Angel investors like Vishal Shah, Nirmal Singh, Sanjay Shah and Ushik Gala also participated in the deal.
The funding will be utilised to fuel expansion plans and product innovation. With this, Guiddoo is well positioned to raise Series-A funding within the year, the company said on Wednesday. It will also build a solution for India, which will be available in multiple languages.
The Mumbai-based start-up offers a mobile app that provides audio and visual guide for over 300 monuments and tourist destinations around the world. Some of these include the Taj Mahal, Statue of Liberty in New York, The Colosseum in Rome, Eiffel Tower in Paris and Angkor Wat, a temple complex in Cambodia
Founded in 2013 by Vineet Budki, Darshan Sharma and Nidhi Varma, Guiddoo Monument Tour & Travel Guide has a range of features for travelers to the monuments it covers. It offers a Step by Step tour where the interactive site plan of the given monument is provided and a user can see the key sights and get to know details of the same. Each key sight within a monument is thoroughly detailed with textual and audio content.
The startup said its in-destination travel app had curated content for over 300 monuments, attractions and locations around the world. The app has over 100,000 downloads, with seven screens per session usage. The company continues to add 1,000 new users a day.
