New personalised homepage at Very.co.uk

Shop Direct - the parent firm of Very.co.uk - has revamped the fashion retailer's e-commerce site for a more streamlined customer experience. A personalised homepage has been launched which allows consumers to check out their preferred line or garment without manually searching through the entire website, thus saving time. Offers and promotions that cater to the individual also now appear on the page – a move which has increased sales for the company by around £5 million, it has been estimated. Chief executive of Shop Direct Alex Baldock said:

We know that relevance wins in retail and right now customers are drowning in a sea of irrelevant choices. We’re making it easier for them to shop by tailoring our websites for them. This is the digital equivalent of Selfridges laying out their Oxford Street store for each shopper.” He continued “We’ve set ourselves an ambitious target to build the world’s best personalised shopping experience – this is a major step towards that goal.”

The firm has stated that 1.2 million varied iterations of the site can be created by its software – and this could rise to 3.5 million by the close of 2015 thanks to new work on a specific algorithm which uses a consumers history on the site to paint a true picture of them and what items they are interested in.
