In India, Microsoft has cut Xbox prices by 16 per cent down to Rs 12,990 – in an attempt to further infiltrate the Indian market. The 4GB Xbox 360 previously retailed at Rs 15,990. The 4GB Xbox 360 with Kinect has been reduced to Rs 21,990 from Rs 26,990, and the 250GB model to 29,990 from Rs 31,990. Microsoft made the statement:
"Since its launch, Xbox has been instrumental in providing a gaming experience like never before to fans across the world”.
Two of the most popular games Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Call of Duty: Ghosts will also be sold together, along with Xbox Live Gold membership. In the quarter leading to December 31st 2014 Microsoft faired extremely well – selling 6.6 million Xboxes in India. The gaming sector in the country is said to be going from strength to strength, though mobile games still dominate. Last year the industry was said to be worth around Rs 750 crore, with 6-7 million people who game on a regular bases but do not own their own system.
