India.com, a joint venture between Mail.com Media Corporation and Zee Entertainment Enterprises, has launched a beta version of its travel information platform called iTripTo.
This platform is essentially a revamped version of India.com’s travel section which was previously a travelogue, reports Medianama.
iTripTo is a travel guide that provides users information for Indian destinations across categories like hill station, beaches, weekend getaways, adventure, nature, deserts, religious, historical, islands, leisure and wildlife among others.
India.com COO Sandeep Amar told Medianama that they are currently focusing on aggregating content with a target of covering 2000 Indian destinations over the next few months. Mobile apps for iTripTo are also in the works and are expected to launch by this fiscal.
Amar also told Medianama that the focus is currently on Indian destinations, although they do plan to provide travel information on neighbouring countries like UAE and Sri Lanka among others in the future.
iTripto is also in the early stages of integrating destination discovery and trip planning tools on the site, however there is no specific information on when these tools will be rolled out.
Amar told Medianama that the site doesn’t yet have the required data volume to roll out these tools, however they are currently working with an undisclosed “well-known company” to integrate actionable travel data on the site.
