Fast food chain Dairy Queen is to launch in India’s QSR (quick service restaurant) market. Previous talks with brand Retail Reliance had fallen through, but Dairy Queen is on the lookout for new partners to help introduce the restaurant in India.
American group Berkshire Hathaway owns Dairy Queen, which runs 6,000 stores in 19 countries, with a headquarters in Minneapolis. A source, when discussing expansion into India said, “The company would initially want to look at opening around 100 burger stores here”.
Other fast food chains have recently launched in India, including Fat Burger. Burger King and Wendy’s. The group chairman of Cybiz Corp Samir Chopra – which is currently introducing eatery chain Carl’s Jr to India was optimistic about the future, stating, "If you look at India's QSR market, it has, surprisingly, been growing despite the inflation”.
