London-based designer Mary Katrantzou has announced a new collaboration with sportswear giant Adidas.
Katrantzou will design a capsule collection of clothes and footwear for Adidas originals women’s collection for autumn 2014, focusing on her signature hyper-colour and kaleidoscopic patterns.
“I grew up, like so many other kids around the world, wearing adidas trainers and I'm really excited about bringing my vision to such a global brand,” said Mary. “They have a fantastic heritage and their ability to innovate in sportswear makes them the perfect partner for us to work with in this market.”
Set for a November launch, it’s thought the collaboration could be part of a long-term partnership for the German sportswear brand. Speaking to Vogue, global creative director of Adidas’ sport style division Dirk Schoenberger said it would be a merging of “exceptional talent”.
"I admire Mary's extraordinary sense of printing techniques, colours and silhouette that will bring another amazing new aesthetic to the Adidas Originals women's collection,” Schoenberger said on Wednesday.
