Vidmay Naini, Business Head – Technology, PaisaPay and PowerShip, eBay India, said, “The ‘9 Hour Delivery’ concept gives consumers a faster and improved shopping experience. This is the first phase of the service, which is available to our Mumbai customers on popular technology product categories and will be scaled to key cities in India in a span of few months. The service is a good option for convenience oriented savvy shoppers who are in a hurry to get their hands on their favourite gadgets.”

The service is available on popular models under product categories across mobiles, laptops, digital cameras and tablets. Under the ‘9 Hour Delivery’ service, eBay India customers in Mumbai can enjoy deliveries before 9PM for products purchased before 12 noon on the same day. Purchases made post 12 noon will be delivered the next day. There are no additional shipping charges or fees levied on this service.

Of late e-commerce sites seem to be trying to outdo each other by announcing services with increasingly less delivery times. As reported by India Digital Review, SnapDeal recently announced the launch of its ‘Same Day Delivery’ service with no extra charge for the same. In early December last year Amazon.in had announced the launch of ‘One Day Delivery’ service in India with an extra cost of Rs. 99 per order, which was soon followed by Flipkart with the launch of ‘In-a-Day Guarantee’ delivery service. Flipkart too charges an additional shipping fee of Rs. 90 per item.
