UK online bathroom retailer, Bathrooms.com, which has been specialising and distributing in the bathroom sector for nearly 10 years, has announced plans to expand the brand in France.
Bathrooms.com said it recognises the opportunity in the French market and understand sthe similarities in demand for design aesthetic and competitive pricing. Customers in France will now able to purchase the full range of quality designed bathroom fittings from free standing baths, sleek shower enclosures and entire bathroom suites as well as accessories all available on http://fr.bathrooms.com/.
CEO Ian Monk said: “We are extremely excited to be embarking on this new business venture and to be expanding to reach customers in France. We have spent a long time researching overseas markets and developing this extension of the business. We know that the French market is around the same size as the UK and as such see the potential for us to match our UK run rate of £10m in 12 months. With our experience and expertise we believe we can make the same impact that has taken us eight years in the UK, just eighteen months in France.”
The UK e-commerce market is one of the most competitive in the world, whereas the cost of acquisition per sale conversion online is lower in Europe, said Bathrooms.com. The decision to export to France was supported by an acknowledgement of a gap in the affordable interior design market that Bathrooms.com said it feels it can satisfy.
Bathrooms.com said its belief is embedded deeply in affordable design pieces and is keen to share its vision with overseas markets. An in-depth look at buying behaviour and consumer trends in France has shown that there is a demand for interior design retailers that can offer both contemporary style with affordable price tags, the company said. In France customers are paying 50% to 100% more for the same quality products.
Bathrooms.com said it is determined to uphold the same high standard of customer care of that in the UK. Staff increases across suppliers will result in an extra 10 manufacturing jobs in the UK over the next six months as the result.
Monk said: “We have been growing at circa 50-60% year on year, so our aims are to break in to the French market then expand to other countries in Europe. As a firm we will then be looking at a projected 300% year-on-year growth. We have taken the values that UK consumers demand which are good design and good quality at prices everyone can afford and provide them overseas.”
Initially, all orders placed will be shipped from UK warehouses, but will still be available on a two-day delivery period. Customers ordering from the .fr site will be serviced by a team dedicated solely to customers and deliveries in France.
Bathrooms.com said it will be leveraging a similar digital marketing strategy that they have rolled out over the last year in the UK. PPC,Social media, public relations and SEO will all be key parts of the integrated marketing activities that are launched alongside the new website. In the future Bathrooms.com will be looking to further expand its business offering to other countries in Europe and North America.
