Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor turned showstopper for designer Ashish N. Soni for the grand finale of Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week.
The actor looked dapper in a white shirt paired with a dinner jacket as he sashayed down the ramp — a bright red multilevel stage set reminiscent of an opera theater.
“This might come as a surprise, but much before I became an actor, I modeled. I had walked down the ramp for late Mr. Dhirubai Ambani for a travel show and later became an actor,” Kapoor said.
The monochrome collection, titled “La Dolce Vita,” saw peplum dresses, polka-dot shirts and trousers, flared skirts, jackets, short satin dresses, trench coats, ball gowns, dinner jackets and tuxedos.
The fabrics used by Soni were mostly satin and silk.
“I was super excited about doing the finale. I hope it went well, and with Mr. Kapoor walking the ramp, it couldn’t have been better,” said the designer.
The models walked down the stairs set on the ramp to live singing and music by a jazz band.
“La Dolce Vita” which translates to “The Sweet Life,” was a 1960 comedy-drama film written and directed by the critically-acclaimed director Federico Fellini.
The movie was the story of a passive journalist’s week in Rome, and his search for both happiness and love that will never come.
The film won the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at the 1960 Cannes Film Festival and the Oscar for Best Costume.
