To mark the celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21, Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) launched a specially designed yoga wear collection under Yogasutra brand.
The collection is available across KVIC retail outlets in Gujarat as well as through e-tailer Amazon
. The Yogasutra collection consists of unisex yoga wear top and bottom, a gamchha (cotton napkin) and a mat. In fact, as a practise yoga is the only stream which doesn’t have any specific clothes that would suit the modern practitioner. The range has been designed by Ahmedabad-based entrepreneur Shailini Sheth Amin, founder and CEO of Moral Fibre Fabrics. The yogawear is priced at around Rs 1,200 for a pair of top and bottom. Initially, 1,000 pieces will be made and later depending upon the response, more pieces will be made. Amin is hopeful that there will be a good response. After all, yoga hasn’t had any specific costume and with this piece, yoga will get its own costume.
International Yoga Day is celebrated on June 21 every year. It was internationally recognised by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 2014. Prime Minister Narendra Modi
suggested the date as June 21 because it is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and holds special significance in many parts of the world.
